Cet ouvrage collectif est divisé en trois principales catégories. La première partie se donne pour but d’étudier certains aspects propres au droit des Nations Unies. La deuxième est consacrée aux droits de l’homme et au droit humanitaire. La troisième étudie, quant à elle, certaines questions relatives à la mise en œuvre du droit international et au règlement des différends. Il en résulte une suite d’analyses stimulantes des problèmes les plus actuels du droit international. Les contributions sont en anglais et en français.

This Liber Amicorum appears on the occasion of Professor Vera Gowlland-Debbas' retirement from the Graduate Institute. It includes 23 contributions by her colleagues and friends from distinguished universities and international institutions. It covers different fields in which she has excelled.
This collective work is divided into three main sections. The first section examines matters concerning the law of the United Nations. The second section is devoted to human rights and international humanitarian law. The third section addresses issues related to compliance with international law and the peaceful settlement of disputes. The result is a collection of stimulating analysis of most of the topical problems of international law. The contributions are in both English and French.

Laurence Boisson de Chazournes, Ph.D., Graduate Institute, is Professor of International Law at the University of Geneva. She has published extensively on contemporary international law issues, including economic international law, environmental law and dispute settlement issues.

Marcelo G. Kohen, Ph.D., Graduate Institute, Geneva, is Professor of International Law at the Graduate Institute, Geneva, and associated member of the Institut de droit international. He has published extensively on territorial disputes, including Possession contestée et souveraineté territoriale (PUF, Paris, 1997).

Le 19 mai 2010, une table ronde sur le thème « New Discourses in International Law » a été organisée à l’IHEID (Institut de Hautes Etudes Internationales et du Développement) afin de rendre un chaleureux hommage au professeur Vera Gowlland-Debbas à l’occasion de son départ à la retraite après avoir enseigné au sein de l’Unité de droit international pendant de nombreuses années.
